Choosing the Perfect Wood Burning Stove for your Shepherd’s Hut

The quintessential shepherd’s hut addition, a wood burning stove serves as not only a heating solution but a communal centrepiece that brings people together. That’s why we’ve meticulously designed a range of fireplaces, tailored to meet every need. Explore the various styles we have available with design tips to aid your decision making.

USAGE

Before delving into stove options, consider your hut’s primary usage. If you’re envisioning your hut as a gathering space for the entire family, a centrally placed stove with access all around may be ideal. On the other hand, for a self-contained living space where amenities take precedence, a corner placement could be more fitting. Discuss with Paul in your design consultation for bespoke advice.

HEARTH OPTIONS

Low Hearth

Embracing a traditional design, our low hearth provides a tiled platform slightly raised from the floor, with a wood burning stove placed atop. A classic choice in fireplace design.

Raised Hearth

Elevated in height and style, the raised hearth is designed to offer log storage beneath and to raise the stove to a hand-warming level. This design ensures easy access to dry logs while neatly containing them, encased in its steel surround.

SURROUND OPTIONS

Centre Surround

Create a focal point with our single-sided centre surround and place your wood burning stove along one wall. Ideal for huts where gathering around the fire is an essential design requirement. Position it centrally to your entrance for maximum impact, or offset down one side for a subtler look.

Corner Surround

Nestle your wood burner into a corner with our two-sided fire surround. Perfect for multifunctional huts such as The Guest Hut, as this stove can be tucked away, surrounded by a sofa snug or adjacent to a kitchenette.

STOVE OPTIONS

The Hobbit

Small yet mighty, we carefully selected The Hobbit as our wood burning stove. Designed and manufactured by Salamander Stoves, a family-run business based in Devon, The Hobbit is specifically designed for smaller spaces and is compliant with Ecodesign 2022 legislation.

The Little Range

For those craving a wilder experience, The Little Range by Salamander Stoves provides the opportunity to cook by fire. With an oven and stovetop, you can brew your morning coffee and bake breakfast pastries by the heat of flame.

Tile Colours

While our huts typically come with classic black tiles, for those with design flair we can offer coloured tiles and even mosaic patterns. Contact us to find out more about customising your tile choice.
