Can I move my Shepherd’s Hut to a different place once sited?

We are often asked if its possible to reposition or completely move a shepherd’s hut to a new site or new space from the one where it was originally sited. The easy answer to this is Yes, it is possible to reposition your hut, and even take it with you if you move or change your mind about the original place you had your hut placed. Each Red Sky Shepherd’s Hut has a fully working steerable chassis to allow it to be moved and allow the flexibility to reposition it.

Now bearing in mind that’s the short answer, we should also give you some advice and a longer version. If you intend on moving your hut just a short distance then providing you have the new area prepared and level then a small trip shouldn’t present any problems for you to move it yourself with a tractor or 4x4.

If, however you need to move your hut across uneven fields or ground then we would advise you to give us a call. We can provide pneumatic wheels and can tow your shepherd’s hut for you into its new position, after all we have the experienced team used to doing this many times and may well be the easier option for you to avoid any mishaps or damage. If in any doubt do, please give us a call to chat over.

Having a prepared area for your Shepherd’s Hut is important and bases that are suitable for positioning your shepherd’s hut on include grass, concrete, gravel or railway sleepers.

Each of those base options do need to be both level and firm in order to be able to support your new hut. Levelling gravel, concrete and ensuring any grass area is not uneven is essential. Our team can advise you on how to prepare your base area and if you choose the least disruptive option of cut down railway sleepers under each wheel, we can do this for you on delivery for a reasonable cost.

Wherever or whenever you choose to move or re-site your shepherd’s hut, we are happy to advise.
